Chris McAvoy, Open Source practice manager at PSC, is a thought leader in the Chicago open source community, and recently presented on Amazon Cloud Services at the Day of Cloud conference.  His slides (seen below) give a good overview of what's possible using Amazon's EC2 hosted solution.
